: The girl inherits from her father a malachite box. The jewelry in the box turns out to be magical, they turn the girl into another Mistress of the Copper Mountain.
The beginning of the story is in the tale "Copper Mountain Mistress"
After the death of her husband, Nastasya left a casket made of malachite, which was given to them by the Mistress of the Copper Mountain for their wedding.
Nastasya is a widow whose husband was in love with the Mistress of the Copper Mountain and died of longing for her
This box kept a lot of female jewelry. During the life of her husband, Nastasya put them on several times, but she couldn’t walk in them: they shook and crushed. Then she took them off and hid them in the far corner of the chest. Many wanted to buy a box, offered a lot of money, but Nastasya refused - the time did not come.
Nastasya had three children: two sons and a little daughter Tanya.
Tanya - the daughter of Nastasya, dark-haired and green-eyed, does not look like parents
The dark-haired and green-eyed girl, like a foundling, did not look like anyone from the family.
In whom only it was born! The little black herself and the little fable, and the green eyes. It’s not like our girls at all.
She loved her father very much, cried often. To console her, her mother gave her a box to play with. The girl tried on jewelry, and they seemed to be made for her - so she is warm from them.
Tanya grew up, often she herself began to get a casket and admire the jewelry. Once, when Nastasya once again absented, Tanya put stones on herself, admiring, and at that time a thief climbed into the hut. He looked at the jewelry, and as if something had blinded him, and the girl managed to escape.
Tanya told her mother about this, she realized that the thief behind the casket came, and secretly from the children buried her under the stove. Only Tanyushka’s box itself appeared - it shone with bright light from under the floor. Since then, the girl secretly played with decorations.
The next few years, Nastasya was living hard, but she survived, did not sell the box. And then the sons began to look for jobs, and Tanya learned to embroider silk and beads. It happened by chance. Once a wanderer came to them, asked to live, and in gratitude taught the girl patterns outlandish.
Tanya reached for the wanderer, as if to her mother, and told her about the box. The wanderer asked her to put stones on herself, and then showed her a beautiful, green-eyed girl in exactly the same jewelry. This green-eyed one stood in a malachite-decorated room, and next to her some white-haired girl spun. The wanderer explained that this was a room in the tsar’s palace, for which malachite father Tanyushkin had obtained.
On the same day, the wanderer was about to leave. In parting, she left Tanyushka with silk threads and a glass button. There was nothing valuable in that button, but a girl peered into it, and any pattern appeared in front of her. This helped Tanya very much in her work. She became the best craftswoman in the district. The guys around Tanyushin’s house trampled all the paths, but she didn’t look at anyone.
Tanyushkino needlework went into fashion. Not like in the al plant in our city, in other places they found out about him, they send orders and they pay a lot of money. It’s just the right time for a good man to make so much money.
It was then that trouble overtook them. Once a fire happened, Nastasya’s hut burned to the ground, only the box and survived. I had to sell it to the wife of the new factory manager. This woman was the mistress of the young master - the son of the owner of all the surrounding mines. Before his death, the old master decided to marry his son, and his mistress married him to a foreigner, a former music teacher, and sent him to the distant factory as managers.
In Russian, the manager well pronounced only one word - “parot”, for which Parotei nicknamed him, but the person was not bad, he didn’t punish in vain.
Parotya - factory manager, foreigner, speaks bad Russian
The jewelry of the steward’s wife didn’t fit - they crush, and press, and prick. Local craftsmen refused to fix the jewelry - “for one whom the master drives, it does not suit the other what you want to do.” Meanwhile, the old master died. His son, who did not have time to marry, immediately went to his mistress.
Meanwhile, Parotya managed to see Tatyana, crush on her and ordered her to embroider her own portrait with gold. Tanya agreed, but said that she would not depict herself, but another girl - the “green-eyed”, who showed her patterns in a button. Parotya looked at the portrait and was amazed: this is the spilled Tanyushka, only in a foreign dress. This portrait of Parotia showed the young master and told him about the malachite box.
He, hear-ko, was little-witted, reedy. In a word, heir. He had a strong addiction to stones. He had nothing to flaunt, - as they say, neither growth, nor voice - so at least with stones.
The master bought the box, then called Tanyushka to him. She immediately recognized in him that white-haired one, who was spinning near the green-eyed, and the master lost his peace, he even proposed to marry him. The girl seemed to agree, but set the condition. Let the master show her the queen and the malachite room, for which the father mined stone.
At the appointed time, Tanyusha arrived at the palace, but no one met her. Barin saw her in a scarf and a village coat and hid behind a column. Then she herself entered the palace and took off her fur coat. And on her dress is more beautiful than that of the queen herself, and the jewelry from the malachite box, which she took from the master for temporary use, is poured. All her beauty was admired.
Then the master jumped to her and called his bride. The girl stopped him and ordered him to be led into a malachite room. The master was afraid: that the queen would say such self-will. But Tanya did not even listen to him; she herself found this room, went up to the malachite wall. Then the queen appeared, she began to demand that the master's bride be shown to her.
It was insulting to Tanyushka that the bridegroom was going to show her tsarina, and not vice versa, refused him. Then Tanya pressed herself against the malachite wall and disappeared. Only gems and a glass button remained from her.The gentleman could not collect the stones - they flowed in his hands with drops. And in the button he saw the green-eyed master and "lost the last little mind."
Since then, no one has seen Tanyushka. Only people began to talk, that now two mistresses in identical dresses began to appear at the mountain.
