(393 words) Probably everyone in childhood dreamed of becoming an adult as soon as possible. Then, having no life experience behind us, we all thought only about the advantages that growing up gives us. Do not go to school, do what you want, and not what parents make you, there is a lot of sweet and no soup - this, perhaps, at least once a student dreamed about. However, is it only maturity that brings pluses in years, or is it still work to be an adult?
Being an adult means being able to answer for your actions without hiding behind the back of your mother, brother or friends. It is impossible, for example, like Mitrofanushka from Fawnvizin's "Undergrowth", to give up on one’s own life and completely surrender one’s fate to the hands of a loving, but shortsighted mother. The young man did not want to study, to take care of the future of the family, to increase the capital of the Simple people. He was interested only in physiological pleasures, and only in self-satisfaction did he find the meaning of life. We all know how the story of these characters ended: Mitrofan turned out to be a real “fruit of evil”, and his mother, Mrs. Prostakova, in horror realized what she had done to her own child’s life. Based on the foregoing, we can draw a disappointing conclusion: it is much easier for a person to stay in childhood, because growing up always begins with a responsibility that is so hard to bear. It means that maturity is difficult for people.
Being an adult is so difficult that some people cannot even handle it. Olya Meshcherskaya, the heroine of Bunin’s short story entitled “Easy Breathing,” thought that maturity was a lifestyle that was easy to change. She began to dress and behave like an adult, started a gentleman, which violated the strict rules of behavior in the gymnasium, but paid for it, unfortunately, at too expensive a price — her own life. The inner freedom of the young girl, which allowed her to behave completely different from what schoolgirls should be, was incomprehensible to those around her, and people interpreted her in their own way. The ease with which she parted with innocence can confuse any person, so the gentleman of Meshchersky did not understand her intentions. With the same ease, she rushes towards imminent death, longs for her, and finally dies at the hands of a man she loved. Unfortunately, the girl’s “easy” character could not stand the test for years. Growing up proved to be an impossible task for Olya.
Difficulties - this is a mandatory stage of growing up a person, without. Without them, we would never be able to gain the necessary experience, grow not only externally, but also internally. All life is one great test, with a huge set of obstacles. But without this it is impossible. Being an adult is difficult, but everyone goes through it. The main thing is not to delay it, but not to try to jump above your own head.
