Environment dramatically affects how a person behaves. In each team there are unwritten laws that the person learns intuitively, for a long time spinning in certain circles. This pattern of behavior was described by many authors. Let's look at some examples.
In the epic novel by Leo Tolstoy, “War and Peace,” the Rostov family was facing an important event: Natasha’s appearance. She was a cheerful, direct and virtuous girl who always behaved honestly and directly. But in high society, she met Helen Kuragina and her brother, who played a fateful role in her fate. With her flattering and flirty speeches, Helene confused Natasha. She began to play the role of a consolidator, helping the vile brother Anatole take possession of Rostova’s heart. Secular dandy easily deceived the gullible heroine. She believed in the sincerity of his feelings and tried to escape with them from her father’s house, being engaged to Prince Bolkonsky. Her attempt became a scandal. Rostov’s name was shameful. Natasha sincerely repented of her deed, and her parents were perplexed: how could she, their sweet, restless girl, be able to go on such a frenzy? In all of this, it was precisely the influence of the disastrous environment in which there were spoiled people.
In the play “At the Bottom” by M. Gorky, the dwellers of the shelter also leveled at each other. Once there, a person forever lost hope of getting out and living a normal life. Each poor man depressingly influenced the other: he strove to hurt, offend, or indifferently listened to suffering. There was no place for friendship and love, only torn, sharp and sick conversations occasionally flashed among desperate and deserted people. The wanderer Luke tried to change the situation, comforting Anna and the Actor, speaking kindly and kindly to everyone. But he did not manage to defuse the atmosphere of "former people" who are used to vegetate at the bottom and do not want to rise higher. Each of them put his grief into a common cauldron, where they all boiled in each other's bile.
Thus, the environment can even determine the fate of a person, motivating his actions from the subconscious. She can also directly give signals, setting the tone for the behavior and conversations of those people who enter into it.
