Creativity is perhaps one of the most unusual and intangible forms of self-expression. Do you need courage to express yourself through creativity? Undoubtedly. Through creativity, a person speaks out, expresses his attitude to someone or something. Often, he does not keep up with the times, and this means that the rejection of his opinion by a wide audience will not take long. Such a step requires courage and determination of character.
Many will agree with me that people of art are brave people. In difficult times, they found the strength to write about the pressing problems of society, without fear of condemnation. A vivid example of such courage of character can be called A. Solzhenitsyn. No matter how much he was persecuted by the Soviet regime, he was never afraid to write about what worried his mind. He touched not only the socio-political side of life, but also the everyday side, the side on which such a rigid system of the country was reflected. In the novel In the First Circle, he described the horrors of hard labor, the years of his own imprisonment. Of course, courage is needed for such a decisive step. It is difficult to talk about these difficult years, and it is even more difficult to overcome the fear of being condemned in one’s own country for such an urgent work.
But courage can manifest itself in a different way. For example, writers who have published books come to mind, where you have to be honest with the reader and expose life as it is, show yourself or someone not an ideal person, or write on sensitive social topics, and sometimes even scandalous ones. How did this happen to V. Nabokov and his novel "Lolita". There he described the intimate relationship of a teenage girl and her stepfather. Humbert was close to Lolita, reading about this disgusting and indecent. So far, many readers have mixed opinions about this story. To write such a frank novel, one also needs courage, because people accused Nabokov of bad tastes and inclinations, everything was described in detail.
To summarize, I want to just be grateful to creative people for not being led by society. Only a strong person is capable of this. It seems to many that creative work is very easy, whether it's drawing, singing or writing. In fact, this is far from the case, therefore I wish creative people to cultivate courage in themselves. Only then will your creation be interesting if you can overcome the fear and start talking about the main thing, as if politicians or bigots would not belong to this.
